Very interesting article. I couldn’t help but notice some of Don Norman’s writings, namely from his book Emotional Design, permeate some of these topics. Namely, Don Norman states there’s three layers of design — the visceral, behavioral and reflective. Personally I believe the User Experience Discipline, comprises all the subject fields that the author has broken into different silos. Building an experience actually means, adhering, “digesting” a series of factors, input points and influences. These range from research (both pre-emptive, but also usability testing, interviews, among others), business considerations, interaction design, visual/UI, development/execution, factors such as localization, platform considerations, accessibility and inclusivity, knowledge and awareness of trends, among others, and how all these ingredients successfully create an actual experience.
