Here are some interesting finds on UI/UX of the week!

E-Commerce Design Guide. Very interesting article from Toptal focused on the details that are relevant for a successful e-commerce experience. Much like omnichannel experiences that have at their core, consistency, optimization and collaboration among other principles, this article goes into detail on such items like navigation, product search, filtering and persuasive design considerations. Highlight of the article includes:
“For outstanding eCommerce UX when shoppers successfully find the product they want, let them find out about the product. Design a product page that creates an experience that is as similar to an in-person shopping experience as much possible, by including lots of images, detailed descriptions and any other useful and related information about the product.”
2.https://blog.intercom.com/design-with-intuition/
Design with Intuition. Article that describes an interesting case study, written by Alex Potrivaev, where he details how intuition played a crucial role in defining the solution that him and his team were working on. This in no way detracts the importance of working with users to understand their needs, but it’s a very interesting case study filled with insight. Highlight of the article includes:
“However, in some scenarios, using your intuition can be a valid way to solve design problems. Over the course of evolution, our brain learned to optimize its resources by doing a quick synthesis of past experiences and knowledge in response to your current challenge. Intuition basically helps you make the best decision based on associations, memories, pattern-matching and assumptions, saving your brain unnecessary effort.”
3.https://designmodo.com/design-email-newsletter/
Designing Email Newsletters. Impeccably written article, focused on strategies of how to build an effective email/newsletter, that produces consumer retention and interest. Highlight:
“An effective method to do this is by using the inverted pyramid model. Emails following this model contain a succinct headline that highlights the essential message of the campaign, followed by supporting information and visuals to help convince subscribers of the benefits of clicking through. Finally, include a prominent call to action button that makes it clear what to do next.”

Designing Unsubscribe Pages. Great article on revising the strategy for unsubscribe pages. This is particularly relevant, since in Product Design, there are different scenarios which are accounted for, namely Success, Loading, Partial/Incomplete, Blank, Error, and of course Unsubscribe, all of which contain opportunities to lure and gain further traction and trust with users and consumers. Highlight:
“Customer Support teams often feel left out of product decisions and this is a great opportunity to get them involved. They can be your best resource at discovering why users are churning. Customer Support is the front-lines of the product, know your users best, and can provide some amazing insights.”
