The process of looking for and securing a job, tends to be an isolating one, no matter how much good advice and references you have. While this article highlights a lot of good useful points, the process in itself is not an accumulation of points which translates into a seemingly painless insertion into a perfect fit type of opportunity. Much like designing product experiences, applying for a job requires a lot of self awareness, preparation, persistence, iteration, and having the insight to also ask the right questions, both to yourself but also to the potential employer. There are countless articles written on Linkedin and countless books focused on topics such as perfecting the art of interviewing, but to be quite candid, in all the years that I’ve interviewed and spent on the job market, the traits that always surface and that deliver best results are typically: honesty, enthusiasm, genuine interest about the field you’re working in, being well prepared, attentiveness, ability to listen and finally, having a sense of humor.
