Thank you for your insightful response. I’ll just add this to your response. Playbooks while in concept interesting, can shape the experience and view of the designer in a determined direction. The goal for the documentation is to introduce and contextualize just enough. There’s always a thin line between enabling/empowering and otherwise being too prescriptive. As far as measuring, you’re correct. Different industries have different learning curves, however the goal of these onboarding experiences is not to make sure the designer knows everything about the field promptly. The goal is to produce an effective integration, where the professional feels he/she is on a path to better understand the organization, the products, teams, methodologies, among other factors, and create a sense of empowerment and team integration.
