If Design has had a constant battle around the hurdles of subjectivity, advocating for a solution based on “Instinct”, basically offers no substantiation for a credible and sensible discipline. Understanding context, users, economic factors, demographics, among many other factors is something tangible and palpable that can be used as a pitch, as an advocacy tactic. As much as a Designer can claim to have empathy, sensitivity, foresight, all those are great qualities, but claiming “Instinct” as something of a driving force to reach a solution, I’d really find that a slightly controversial claim.
